Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was expected for questions to be raised about his position after another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from above,” the coach commented.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points of course but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this game so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

The manager lamented recurring failings from his team in their European loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell like this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until it is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
