It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are what's still available for a side that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because it appeared my form was missing completely," said Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature activate and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was removed Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm pleased we have the confidence to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
