Both Deceased Students Revealed in the Providence Campus Incident as Police Press On With Hunt for Gunman.

Two students who were killed in the weekend's tragic incident in Providence were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their assailant carried on following the release by Rhode Island officials of the only individual of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s branch of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also expressed sympathies online, stating: “There are no words. Remembering her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

His name was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

Nine other people were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the engineering department of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a man aged 24 arrested in a raid at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you must reassess and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “This will probably generate new worry for our city”.
