A campaign is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The project hopes to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression. An Opportunity for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup" Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup. “It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.” Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message. “The song holds a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.” Track's Background and Featured Artists The song was recorded following a solidarity show held in September. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the piece was cut from the show due to time constraints. The impressive roster of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a range of prominent voices from the industry. All took part in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a considerable total for humanitarian aid. Production and Release Lullaby was produced by a trio of talented individuals. The song showcases a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses. The group managing the project have stated that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner. “There is no a specific target,” a spokesperson explained. “We aim for as much as possible. Of course, the more the merrier. It all goes out to Gaza.” The context in the territory was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as levelled or seriously harmed. “Given that reality, a few million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily making this cause better known and demonstrating that another narrative exists.” The song is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a digital service from later in the month.
