Trump Calls Families of Injured Military Members to the White House

Former President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the executive mansion.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Tragic Event

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Memorials across the state have been held in their remembrance.

Presidential Call

The president stated he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president addressed journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, considerate and always willing to assist people.”

Funeral details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Actions and Government Revisions

Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event led the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and halt granting entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor the governor said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she aimed to meet with his relatives.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor told the gathering at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
