Why this DNC is Hiding its 2024 Election Autopsy: A Deep Dive.

This move from the DNC to suppress the release regarding its own post-election analysis concerning the 2024 election is stunning but to be expected. Resistant to unpleasant candor, the DNC often functions more like a communications shop rather than a political organization focused on cultivating a volunteer base capable of prevailing at the polls.

A Culture of Conformity

Unwilling to challenge the prevailing attitude of conformity, the committee has remained under that legacy throughout this past year. Making public an official autopsy might have shown that party leaders truly desire to encourage open debate regarding the strategic failures which allowed the former president to return to the White House. However, the committee is acting under the pretense that there's nothing to be learned following the tragic debacle of 2024.

The top priority: will this lead to victory? Should the answer be negative, it becomes a sideline issue from our fundamental goal," a justification reportedly given to justify concealing the report.

Critical Problems a Report Might Have Addressed

A genuine analysis of substance would not dodge a series of difficult topics. These include:

  • Voter Disenchantment: The loss of millions of voters that backed the Democratic ticket during the previous election proved pivotal during the tight 2024 election.
  • The Choice to Run: The unwavering decision by a party leader to seek re-election, alongside a very late withdrawal, is seen by some as robbing the party's base of open primaries.
  • Failing the Working-Class Base: Amid inflation, the campaign allegedly accommodating powerful financial backers and not managing to address the effects of corporate greed.
  • A Foreign Policy Factor: The refusal to reconsider a stance regarding a ongoing war allegedly caused alienating key demographic groups, especially with youth voters, Arab American communities, Muslim voters.
  • A Decline in Youth Backing: Research shows a major drop-off of support for the party among voters aged 18-29.

A Pattern of Evasion

The decision to withhold aligns with a pattern of evading difficult realities. It echoes a dynamic where the vast majority of Democratic officeholder in Congress went along with an incumbent's determination to seeking another term right up until a poor campaign event compelled an exit.

Meanwhile, overwhelming numbers of the electorate were repeatedly informing surveyors that they opposed that candidate to seek re-election.

Financial Concerns

A substantive report might also examine issues regarding financial allocations, such as how much money flowed to insider consultants and ad buyers during a campaign that managed to spend a staggering war chest over a few months.

A Broader Problem

Fundamentally, the secrecy regarding the analysis points to a submission to the established hierarchy responsible for a disastrous electoral effort. The message for rank-and-file members – which includes millions of loyal volunteers – appears to be that they cannot be trusted to understand what party chiefs claim to have learned from an analysis drawing from extensive interviews.

A party unwilling to critically review its own failings finds it difficult to climb out of the cycle that proved so beneficial to the rival party.
